It Took A Breakthrough To Save My Dental Practice
If I could share one lesson that could change the way you do dentistry forever would you take a few minutes to read on? You would! Awesome I’ve made this short for just that reason.
I’m going to tell you the game-changing breakthrough I made to shift my dental office from surviving to thriving.
I have heaps of stories and lessons I’ve learnt from over 26 years in practice so you can take what I’ve discovered and put into action (and avoid the costly mistakes I made) in your dental office.
This aha moment and breakthrough saved my dental practice…
Stuck Stuck Stuck
How many times do you get stuck with a problem and no matter how you look at it, what angle you take you can’t come up with a solution? Only to find that you’re in the shower or having a walk and boom the answer is right there out of the blue.
It was like that with my dental office, I’d lost two key players, I was exhausted and stressed, micromanaging, doing it all and even though I was working hard and seeing lots of patients I wasn’t making any money. My business was surviving (only just) and I wanted it to be thriving. Sound familiar?
So I tried to fix it, by working even harder, taking more dental courses, trying to be nicer (aka sucking up) to my patients, offering discounts or you can have that one on me’s, pushing myself and my staff harder and trying to control everything so it was done the way I wanted.
Not matter what I tried, things just kept getting worse. I was digging an early grave for myself – literally.
Then one morning I was out walking the dogs when boom it hit me right between the eyes….
“I was trying to fix my business by being a better dentist not a better business woman!!”
Oh duh – how could I have been so blind – but that’s the trouble with blind spots, we can’t see them.
Get Better At Business
That was it – right there and then I committed myself to doing whatever it takes to get better at business. I hired coaches, joined a business mastermind group, read business books and set to work on every area of my business.
This is how I discovered the importance and value of systems as “without systems you don’t own your business your business owns you”.
And there you have it my number one break through that saved my dental practice and me from an early grave…
You got to see your dental office as a business and run it like one.
So if you are stuck on the treadmill or digging yourself into deeper and deeper trouble you don’t have to wait for an epiphany or until its too late to turn things around.
