Are you a glass half empty or half full type of person? Well whichever way you look at it the glass contains the exact same amount of water. It’s how you perceive it and think about it that matters. Right now, dentistry is facing a massive challenge that could change the way we practice forever. As much as I hate to talk about coronavirus and Covid-19 it would be wrong not to address the elephant in the room.
In this episode Dr Rachel Hall The Cheeky Dentist explores:
- How can we take this situation and come out on top
- What opportunities are there for you practice
- What approach do we need to take to generate new dental patients
- How to plan for the worst case scenario so you always have a plan A, B and C
- What you can do to stand out from the crowd
- Pivoting your practice

This is great Rachel. I love the practicality, free of the panic that has been affecting a lot of our profession. I have used this time as a complete ‘reset’ on my business, to address the things that I was not happy about but too busy to deal with when everything was normal. After initial distress in the last week of March, I have settled down and been neither distressed, nor overly optimistic – just getting on with what I need to do, taking one step at a time. Even doing a certificate course in accounting to strengthen a weakness in understanding how financial systems work. Your podcast has been very confirming, and very astute.
Thank you for your feedback Rachel. Panic does not make for level headed thinking and good decision making so I wanted to bring a clear voice to help our profession make the best of a difficult situation. Seeing the opportunity to work on your dental practice and make changes while you have the time is very wise, like the phoenix rising from the flames.
Now is a time to be nimble, make the best of what is there and plan for a more solid future.
An insightful look at how all the restrictions are having an impact on Dentistry. While I am not a dentist your observations and questions can be used in all walks of life, I love your practical and sensible approach to working with the changes as they are presented to you.
